How I Used Pinterest To Decorate My New Space

Decorating a new space is one of the most therapeutic forms of activity for me. I recently moved into a new space and the first thing on my to-do list was to get a feel for the vibe I wanted my personal room to have.

The first course of action was finding inspiration. For people like me who enjoy looking toward other art forms I knew that the first place I was going to go to Pinterest. Prior to researching for decorative tips I always had a light interest in using Pinterest. This could’ve been due-to-the fact that I didn’t know much about Pinterest and how powerful it was as a tool. Little did I know, I needed Pinterest in-order-to gain insight on the type of room I wanted and it helped me achieve just that!

  1. Start your search by using strong keywords

I knew I a general view of what I wanted my room to look like. Whether it was the color tone, the types of furniture, and main staples I knew that I wanted a room that gave off classy and relaxing vibes. With this set in my mind I searched “Masculine Male Rooms”. For the most part Pinterest populated images of sleek rooms with dark tones (black, gray, and white). This gave me a general view of what to look for

  • Bold

  • Clean

  • Aesthetically Pleasing

  • Grown-Up

2. Make sure you understand and budget properly

Since I knew I was moving I wanted to make sure that I had enough funds in my account for me to feel like I could pull off my decorating. I started saving and within two months I was able to come up with a budget of around $800 for my room alone. I had no furniture and a bed I no longer wanted. I knew with my budget that the only suitable furniture outlet for me was Ikea! I have an entire separate blog coming that’ll detail everything I bought and how much I spent. After you develop a nice budget moving forward with finding each and every item will seem more like a checklist rather than an endless waiting game.

3. Be patient with your process

I can admit that I’m one of the most impatient people on the planet. When I want something I tend to go after it fully. The decorating process was the same in a sense. I had so many awesome ideas that I couldnt wait to make everything look the way I wanted it to. Fortunately my patience and my budget kept me on track so I couldn’t be anxious because I knew that in due-time everything would look amazing in the end.
